Judge Saldaña Reads Proclamation at Juneteenth Celebration
Judge Marisela Saldaña read the Nueces County Proclamation commemorating Juneteenth at the Solomon M. Coles Awards Banquet on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach.
The Coalition recognized achievers in the health care industry and achievers of "Yes, We Can- Can Do Leadership."
"I was honored to have participated in this year's Juneteenth celebration. It is important that we continue to educate our community about the many leaders who have and continue to make significant contributions in our area. I applaud the work of the Corpus Christi Juneteenth organizers," said Judge Saldaña.
The Corpus Christi Juneteenth Coalition is comprised of local members of the Corpus Christi Academy of African American Women Doctors, the Black Chamber of Commerce, Women Business Owners, the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE), the Northside Juneteenth Committee and Texas Techies Organization. The committee members include: Mrs. Hannah Carter, Chair; Dr. Gloria Scott, Vice-Chair; Violet Russell-Edwards, Secretary; and, Sylvia Ann Tryon-Oliver, Treasurer.

Judge Saldaña Continues to Support the Arts
Judge Saldaña was a host at the opening ot the art exhibit "Material Revelations" of local artist Maricela Sanchez, held at the K Space Art Gallery on June 9, 2009.
K Space Contemporary is an artist-operated non-profit organization dedicated to presenting and promoting contemporary art to South Texas. The 2009 Board of Directors include: Jenni Arnold, Judith Curiel, Charlie Hoffman, Ericha Kemm, Gerald Lopez, Eric Rivera, Silvia Samaniego, Michelle Smythe and Ashley Thomas.
